This Saturday, FA Cup holders Arsenal were eliminated from the 4th Round by Southampton. Meanwhile Manchester City survived a scare by league 2 side Cheltenham Town as they smashed 3 late goals to save themselves from embarrassment.
With Wolves getting a struggling win on Friday night against non league side Chorley, the major headline of Saturday turned out to be Arsenal's early cup exit. The Gunners are the most successful team in FA Cup history with 14 Titles to their name but played far from better against the Saints.
In fact in the entire match Arsenal Registered only 2 shots on target. A ball was fired in by from the right by Walker-Peters and Arsenal Defender Gabriel failed to keep that out as the ball took a deflection off him and beyond Bernd Leno in the back of the net to make it 1-0 in the 24th minute.
In the late night Fixture league 2 side Cheltenham Town gave a real scare to Premier League Giants Manchester City. The Citizens had not conceded a goal in over 540 minutes since the goal by Callum Hudson Odoi against Chelsea.
They had some good chances but were unable to take them. The Host remained stirred in forcing the Giants out. Cheltenham shocked the world when they took the lead in the 59th minute through Alfie May after a long thrown which was not cleared well but City needed up straight to him. He slammed in from close range into the roof of the net.
With Time running out Pep Guardiola was forced into making some changes. He brought in big guns, Cancelo,Dias and Gundogan of the bench.The move paid off City scored thrice in the last 10 minutes through Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres to make it 3-1. Cancelo grabbed the assist for Foden while Gundogan setted up Torres.
Meanwhile in Serie A, Atalanta stunned leaders AC Milan 3-0 at the San Siro. Cristian Romero gave them the lead through a header in the 26th minute. A second half Penalty from Josip Illicic and a strike for Duvan Zapata condemned Milan to their second lose of the season. In the other simultaneou fixture Inter Milan failed to score as they played out a goalless draw with Udinese. The gap between this two is now down to 2 points.
