Tuesday Football Roundup;City go top of the table,Inter beat Milan

 

In a frantic midweek action of football, Tuesday saw Arsenal and Manchester City picking up important wins with the latter going top of the table and Inter Milan stunned AC Milan late in the Derby Della Madonnina to knock out Milan out of the Coppa Italia.

In two late simultaneously kickoffs Arsenal visited Southampton and as West Brom hosted Manchester City. Southampton took a shock lead in the third minute when Stuart Armstrong smashed in a short following from a corner which Arsenal failed to clear.

Though they got back on level terms quickly. After winning the ball back up high,the Arsenal midfield controlled the ball and Granit Xhaka then played the ball through Nicolas Pepe who made no mistake to slot it past the keeper into the bottom right corner.

Arsenal turned the game around and took the lead when Alexander Lacazette played a stunning throughball to 19 year old Bukayo Saka. He showed great pace and composure to round off and beat the onrushing keeper McCarthy and slot it home in an open goal.

The Duo of Lacazette and Saka were involved again. This time they switched roles as Saka drived a ball towards the back post where Lacazette arrived and thumped it in to make it 3-1 for Arsenal and seal the win.

Meanwhile Manchester City slammed the hosts West Brom 5-0 at the Hawthorns. 4 goals in a blistering first half which included a brace from resurgent inform Ilkay Gundogan,Joao Cancelo and Riyad Mahrez. City added a fifth in the second half through stand in Captain Raheem Sterling. The result took Manchester City to the summit of the Premier League,1 point ahead of city rivals United.

In a headline fixture in Italy, the two Milan Clubs faced off in the Derby Della Madonnina as Inter Milan hosted AC Milan. Both have been in a great form in Serie A with Milan leading Inter by just 2 points at the top of the table.

In terms of comparison of history, the rivarly goes Back beyond the ancient times. With 18 Scedutto Each,it is AC Milan who have had a upper hand in terms of trophies in Europe. Their 7 UCL Titles is only bettered by Real Madrid (13), whereas Inter have had 3 UCL to their name. However in recent years both teams have suffered major setbacks. The "visitors" AC Milan Drew first blood through the 39 Year Old Talismanic Zlatan Ibrahimovic. After Brahim Diaz's poor free kick, Inter failed to clear the ball and Soualiho Meite played the ball to Ibrahimovic who took a few touch and drove a shot in the bottom left corner.

Just before the halftime the derby delivered as two Former Manchester United Strikers, Inter's Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic collided with each other. Their was a disagreement between the two and a clash of heads which saw both of them recieve a yellow card.

Milan were reduced to 10 man in the 58th minute. Guess who? Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He went in for a challenge but got unlucky with a harsh decision as it was Kolarov who clipped his own heels and went down. For that Zlatan was showed a second yellow and he was off.

With Zlatan off the pitch,it was time for Romelu Lukaku to steal the spotlight. He equalised in the 71st minute through a Penalty to make it 1-1. 10 minutes were added as injury time. The game then produced a surprising winner as out of cast Christian Eriksen whose sublime free kick went in the 7th minute of injury time to make it 2-1 and break AC Milan hearts.
