After 2 days of heavy speculations,Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant announced that universities and colleges not only in Mumbai but entire Maharashtra will reopen from February 15th,2021.
In the announcement he has said that colleges can take classes in shifts and can have a maximum of 50% attendance. Another important announcement he made was that the 75% attendance rule has been waived off this year in regard to COVID-19.
Students can attend the lectures and exams online or offline as per their wish. Those who are in favour of physical classes will have to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) which will be released by the government in the college campus. Guidelines for teachers as well as non-teaching stuff will also be released.
He has also said that colleges should not force parents to pay fees, considering the COVID-19 situation. The Fees regulation committee and higher and technical department will take the final decision regarding the fees.
