Huge Banyan "hacked" to clear views for hoardings at Girgaum Chowpatty

In a truly heinous act towards mother nature, a huge Banyan was hacked down illegally,so that the advertisement hoardings can be seen clearly at the Girgaum Chowpatty in Mumbai.

After the complaint by locals, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has filed a written Complaint at the MRA Marg Police Station. They have asked the police to book the advertising firms that are responsible behind this.

The tree is said to have stood at the Tambe Chowk and was blocking the views of hoardings placed on the terrace of the Sriniketan Building and a nearby Patrol Pump.

Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray has said that he has contacted the police official and those behind this act wouldn't be spared.
