Government of India introduces new guidelines for travellers amid spike in COVID-19 Cases

With the recent surge of COVID-19 Cases in India, the Government has introduced new set of fresh guidelines for travellers. Two new highly infectious strains of COVID-19(the South African and The Brazilian) has been found in the country.

This new rules will apply to all incoming International passengers except those from the United Kingdom, Europe and Middle East. According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) around 4 cases of South African strain and one case of Brazilian strain has been detected in India.

Under new rules, only those passengers will be allowed to travel who have tested negative in the RT-PCR test 72 hours ahead of the departure. There will be an exception for those who are travelling because of a death in the family.

Passengers travelling from United Kingdom,Europe and Middle East will have to compulsory undergo a RT-PCR test upon arrival at their own expense. This is said to cover passengers from South Africa and Brazil as well as there are no direct flights from these two countries.
