Key Points and Highlights from PM Narendra Modi in the Rajya Sabha

Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the reply to the debate of Motion of Thanks on President Ram Nath Kovind's address in the Rajya Sabha. On Friday the President's address had concluded with around 50 speakers from 25 political parties taking part in the discussion. Opposition parties had agreed on the discussion of new farm laws in the motion of thanks.

Here are some Highlights and Main Points said by PM Modi-

One of the most significant line spoken about Indian Nationalism by PM Modi was that our Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who built the Azad Hind Fauj was the First Prime Minister of India.

Andolanjeevi and FDI-

  • India is very proud of the contribution of the Sikhs. This is a community which has done so much for the nation. The words and blessings of Guru Sahibs are precious. The Kind of language used for them, people trying to mislead them, this is not going to benefit anyone.
  • There is a new crop of "andolanjeevi". They live for andolan(protests). They look for ways to start a new andolan. The country needs to be aware of this andolanjeevis.
  • FDI is Foreign Direct Investment. But there is a new FDI which is "Foreign Destructive Ideology". We need to stay aware and protect India from this new FDI.

On New Farm Laws parallel to Green Revolution-

  • There was a huge cry in the country to bring recall  in Shastri ji's, no one was ready to become the agriculture minister. But Shastri Ji moved forward. Left said the same thing then that it is been done on the instructions from America. Congress leaders were then called "American Agents".
  • Thousands of protest were organized then, but Lal Bahadur Shastri kept on moving forward and today we have surplus production. The population is increasing while the land is shrinking. We have to do something to reduce the dependence on farming.
  • PM Modi would also hit out at former PM Manmohan Singh and readed out one of his quote and said that he was genuinely shocked by the number of U-TURN of politicians.
  • The quote of PM Manmohan Singh was "There are several rigidities in the whole market since the 1930's which prevent our farmers from selling their procedure where they get the highest rate of return. It is our intention to remove all those handicaps which come in the way of India to become one large common market."
  • Our Farmers have given record procedure during the Coronavirus Lockdown. There are many laws. Every law is amended in a few years. We are not static. Change is tradition. We should talk to the Protestors. Implement the changes. I will take the abuses. You can take the benefits from the new laws. We can move ahead together.

MSP-

  • MSP(Minimum Support Price) tha, MSP hai aur MSP rahega(MSP was there,MSP is there and MSP will be there). Affordable ration for the poor will continue and Mandis(Market) will be modernised.
  • NDA's there schems help farmers too. For example the PMGSY. When the road connectivity improves,it enable the produce of the farmers to reach distant places. There are efforts like Kisan Rail too. The need of the hour is to improve the lives of small farmers.

On Farm Reforms-

  • In the face of challenges, we have to decide if we want to be a part of the solution or part of the problem.
  • Chowdhury Charan Singh has said 68% of the farmers are small and marginal farmers. Over 12 Crore farmers have less than 2 hectares of land. Don't we have a responsibility towards the 12 Crore farmers? This question of Chowdhury Charan Singh still exists. Shouldn't we find a solution.
  • Farmers who don't even have bank accounts, how would they get loans. Loan waivers don't benefit small farmers. Since 2014 we have initiated changes in argiculture sector aiming at empowering the farmer. The crop insurance was changed to make it more farmer-friendly. The PM-KISAN Scheme was also brought in. Small farmers have been at the centre of all policies and schemes.

COVID-19-

  • We are fighting against an unknown enemy. The world wondered how will India tackle the crisis. Everybody did their own analysis on how to fight this unknown enemy.
  • With the grace of god we have managed it well. The credit to win this war goes to the people of India, not any individual or any government. India did it,even the poorest did it.
  • India has seen days when polio, smallpox was big threats. Today our nation is making vaccines for the world. This boosts our self confidence.

Democracy-

  • Everyone talked about the farmers protest but didn't speak behind the reasons of this protests. Our democracy is not Western institution. Our democracy is a human institution.
  • India's Nationalism is based on 'Satyam, Sivam Sundaram' as said by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.We have lost Netaji's vision over the years and today we are searching for ourselves.
  • We have failed to tell our younger generations that India is not just the largest democracy of the world but mother of democracy.
  • I was listening to Derek Ji, he had chosen good words- Freedom of Speech, Intimidation. When I was listening to him, i was wondering if he is taking about Bengal or the country.
  • Bajwa Sahab from Congress was also speaking. He was speaking in such detail that I thought he will reach Emergency shortly. But he didn't go there. Congress disappoints this country a lot,you did that too.
