The Mumbai Court on Monday rejected the plea of bail for the ex CEO of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) Partho Dasgupta and have labelled that the case papers reflect him as the "mastermind in the TRP Manipulation Scam".
Dasgupta is one of the prime Accused in the TRP scam and his leaked chats with Republic Media's Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami has certainly raised eyes of the public. The Court without naming anyone said "acted in his capacity of CEO to manipulate television ratings through mechanical device" and that he was "in contact with a television channel owner".
The sessions court which is now made available said on January 22 "It appears from the papers put forth before me that it is not a simple case of TRP manipulation but more than that."
Special Public Prosecutor Shishir Hiray has said that there has been an enormous rounds of chat between Dasgupta and a channel owner and anchor. He said that more rounds of chats are found between are "very serious" and home ministry's approval is needed to verify that chats.
He has also claimed that Dasgupta has recieved a huge sum of money for manipulating the TRP ratings of the channel from the owner of the channel.
The Court will hear the matter of this case on February 9,2021. This is Dasgupta' third plea of bail after his two previous bails got rejected by lower courts.
