On Thursday the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) announced the joining of Actor Arun Govil, popularly known for his role as Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar's hit series of 1987 "Ramayan".

Based on true incident recited by Valmiki's Ramayan and Tulsidas's Ramcharitmanas, Ramayan had originally aired between 1987-88 followed by Uttar Ramayan in 1988. His popularity rose to bigger heights when the new generation was able to see Ramayan when during it's rerun in the COVID-19 Lockdown last year.

Govil joining BJP pushes the party's political aspirations even further as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and UP CM Yogi Adityanath all have been seen beginning their rally address with the holy chant of "Jai Shree Ram".
