Thousands of devotees walking along the Yatra |
Earlier today, the Amarnath Yatra Shrine Board announced the date for the annual Amarnath Yatra. This year the Yatra will be held for 56 days starting from June 28th to August 22nd and the registration for this will be start from April 1st.
With the gradient rise in the number of COVID-19 cases last year, this holy trip was cancelled by the Shri Amarthnathji Shrine Board (SASB). The Yatra was scheduled to be curtailed last year and begin from July 21 till August 3, but the decision was later cancelled out.
Despite the sudden surge in cases across some states in the country, this time the board has decided to go on with the event with COVID-19 protocols to be followed.
The Board has also said that it respects the sentiment of devotees and will therefore continue to Live Telecast/Virtual Darshan of the morning and evening aarti. Furthermore Traditional rituals will be carried out as per past practice.
