Bollywood's "Mr Perfectionist" Aamir Khan turns 56

Today we would like to send our thoughts and well wishes to one of India's biggest filmstar and industry legend Aamir Khan on his 56th Birth Anniversary.

Born in Mumbai(then Bombay) Khan was the nephew of Bollywood Legend Nasir Hussain. Khan started out his acting career at a young age of 8 when he had a minor role in Hussain's Yaadon Ki Baarat in 1973. A film career which has gone over 3 decades, Aamir Khan would go on to become a part of the famous Khan trios of movie stars along with Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan.

Over the years Aamir Khan has earned the nickname of "Mr Perfectionist" for his contribution and dedication for roles in the movies. He is said to release only one movie per year,but that movie is likely to cover up his time. His roles like Sanjay Singhania in Ghajini, Rancho in 3 idiots, PK in PK, Mahavir Singh Phogat in Dangal has earned him lots of praises from the critics.

He made his full debut acting debut in the 1988 movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak along with Juhi Chawla. It would become an instant hit and Khan would go on to establish himself as one of Hindi Cinema's great in the 90s with movies like Dil, Raja Hindustani and Sarfarosh.

In 1999 he would go on established the Aamir Khan Productions, whose first project was the 2001 hit Lagaan. As a director his first film would become Taare Zameen Par in 2007 for which he won the Filmfare Best Director Award.

His continued global success in movies like Ghajini, 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3, PK, Dangal has helped him achieved such a mega stardom. His films are often described to deal with social issues within the Indian Society and has helped Parallel Cinema achieve new heights.

Alongside working on the big screen, he even started and hosted his talkshow named Satyamev Jayate, through which he occasionally highlights the sensitive issues in India.

Khan married Reena Dutta in 1986 and the couple spent 16 years together before going their separate ways in 2002. He would then marry Kiran Rao in 2005.

For his outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema, he was awarded the Padma Shri in 2003 and the Padma Bhushan in 2010. For his huge International following, he was awarded the National Treasure of India by the Government of China in 2017.
