On Wednesday Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde has recommended the name of Justice NV Ramana to the Centre Government for appointing him as his(Bobde) successor after his terms comes to an end on April 23,2021.
Justice Bobde was sworn in as the Chief Justice of India in 2019. He was the 47th Chief Justice of India after he succeeded Justice Ranjan Gogoi who is now retired. This development comes after the Centre had asked CJI Bobde to recommend his successor.
Justice NV Ramana is the seniormost judge in the Supreme Court after CJI Bobde. Justice Ramana was appointed as a permanent judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court in 2000. He also served as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court before being elevated to Supreme Court in 2014.
