The rising number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra,has lead the government to take a strict action and impose the night curfew in the state to try to curb the widespread of the virus. Yesterday the state added 35,792 fresh new cases. The lockdown restrictions that were placed earlier have been extended to April 15.
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar has said that the Night Curfew might start from 10pm or 11pm in Mumbai.
Yesterday the state released details of the new restrictions which are going to get imposed from tonight (March 28). Earlier the Government had announced that during night curfew, Shopping Malls will have to remain shut from 8pm-7am. Those same restrictions have been applied on Cinema Halls, Auditoriums and Restaurants as well.
However for restaurants, home delivery and takeaways will be allowed as per existing timings. Gathering of more than 5 people in public places is also prohibited.
The officals have also stated that there has been no changes in shop timings and have given the local authorities the power to take their own decisions in this regard as per the situation in their area.
The state will also impose fines for those who are found to be flouting these restrictions. A fine of Rs 500 will be charged if a person is found to be roaming without wearing a face mask, whereas people found to be spitting in public places will have to pay a fine of Rs 1,000.
To reduce the crowd in government offices, only elected representatives will be allowed. Other visitors will not be allowed without urgent work. In case of urgent work, special passes will be issued by the department.
