The Second Wave of COVID-19 in India is setting unwanted records day after day. On Thursday, the country recorded the world's highest spike in a single day with 3,14,835 new cases,according to the data provided by Union Health Ministry. The death toll increased up to 1,84,657 as 2,104 fatalities were recorded.
This daily jump of India surpasses the previous highest single day spike in the world of 2,97,430 cases recorded by US in January.
The country's caseload is at 1,59,30,965. Out of these, around 1,34,54,880 have recovered from this virus. The active number of cases in the country have now crossed the 22 lakh mark.
The worst affected state in the country, Maharashtra, reported 67,468 new cases and 568 deaths as the total caseload of the state went beyond the 40 lakh mark.
