On Sunday 4th April,2021 India reported it's record spike in COVID-19 cases since the outbreak began with 1,03,558 fresh infections in 24 hours. This is the first time the country has registered over 1 lakh new cases in a single day.
The previous high in daily spike was recorded on September 16,2020 when 97,894 cases were reported. In the process Maharashtra also recorded it's own highest single day spike, as the state reported 57,074 cases.
The Maharashtra Government has announced a Weekend Lockdown from 8pm on Friday to 7am on Monday, for the rest of the month.
