DCGI gives nod for the emergency usage of Russia's Sputnik V

A day after an expert panel of India's drug regulator gave their approvement for the usage of Russia's Sputnik V, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has now also given their nod regarding this matter.

Yesterday the final call for the usage of this vaccine was rested on the shoulders of the DCGI. They have now agreed for it's emergency usage have given Dr Reddy's Laboratories for it's administration.

In September 2020, Dr Reddy's had partnered with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) to conduct the clinical trials of Sputnik V and distribute the vaccine in India.

This development comes at a time when the country reported over 1.61 lakh new cases. The shortage of vaccines at some centres is also a key figure for it's approval.
