Nearly 11 months after African-American George Floyd (46) was brutally murdered by police violence, prime accused Derek Chauvin former Minneapolis Police Officer has been found guilty of all three counts of murder by a federal grand jury.
Floyd was killed in a brutal abuse of police force on May 25th,2020 when he was arrested after a store clerk alleged that he had passed a counterfeit USD 20 bill in Minneapolis.
Chauvin (45) along with fellow officers pinned down Floyd while arresting him. For 9 long minutes, Chauvin pressed a knee at the neck of Floyd. "I can't breathe. I can't breathe" were the last words of Floyd.
A video of his death soon went viral and a nationwide protest broke out. Banners and Slogans with the headline "Black Lives Matter" trended worldwide on Social Media as many prominent leaders, politicians, actors and sportstars urged for Justice.
Today the 12 member federal jury found Chauvin guilty on all three counts: second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
There was a roar of huge cheers immediately outside the courthouse when the verdict came in.
