Remembering "The Joker" Heath Ledger on his 42nd Birthday

Today 4th April,2021 marks the 42nd Birth Anniversary of a legendary actor whose awe inspiring acting left us all speechless and then disappeared from this world forever. We at the Su-Niti News remember Heath Ledger today.

Born in Perth, Australia in 1979, Ledger began his acting career with a minor role in the 1992 Australian movie Clowning Around. He also acted in TV Shows such as Sweat, The Roar and Home and Away.

After appearing in Blackrock which marked his first "credited" performance on the big screen, he setted his sights on the US and bagged a supporting role in the 2000 release The Patriot.

In the years that followed by, Ledger quickly started becoming a big name. Some of his movies which were well liked by the audience that time included Brokeback Mountain (2005), Casanova (2005) and Candy (2006).

He was however unable to enjoy his rise to stardom as he passed away on January 22,2008 due to 'accidental drug overdose'. Months before his death, he had worked as The Joker in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight.

The Dark Knight, a superhero film based on Batman, a DC Comic character was released months after his death. It turned out to be a blockbuster and his biggest every film. His performance as The Joker was awarded with the Oscars Best Supporting Actor in 2009.

For the years that followed many characters have played the role of The Joker including the likes of Jared Leto in Suicide Squad (2015) and Joaquin Phoenix in Joker (2019)[for which he actually won the Oscars Award for the Best Actor]. However for many fans there will always be one Joker and that's Heath Ledger. RIP
