Swiggy and Zomato to stop food deliveries after 8pm in Maharashtra

 

In the view of night curfew placed in Maharashtra, two prominent food delivery service, Zomato and Swiggy have announced that they will stop delivering food after 8pm in the state. They have asked users to order food before 8pm.

The Maharashtra Government has imposed a night curfew every day till April 30 which starts at 8pm and ends on 7am. Along with the night curfew, the government has also imposed a weekend lockdown.

According to the government order "Take-Away orders, parcels and home delivery services will only be allowed between 7am to 8pm from Monday to Friday. On weekends only home delivery services will be allowed between 7am to 8pm and there shall be no visiting any restaurant or bar for ordering purposes or pickup."

Complying to the government order a Swiggy Spokesperson said "We continue to co-operate with the government in its efforts to fight the pandemic."

In Mumbai, both Zomato and Swiggy have started showing in-app messages after 8pm that they are not accepting any orders. Zomato's message reads "We're currently not accepting orders online. We'll be back soon." Whereas Swiggy messages says "We are not delivering there at the moment!"
