The Andhra Pradesh Government on Monday extended the partial lockdown imposed in the state till the end of the month i.e May 31. This decision was taken after an afternoon meeting held by CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The state had first imposed a partial lockdown of 18 hours on May 5 and was supposed to end on May 18. The curfew timings, from 12 noon to 6 am, remain intact. The government had allowed relaxation after 6 am till 12 noon for essential services.
- "It has only been 12 days since we imposed the curfew. It should be in force atleast for four weeks" said CM Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Andhra Pradesh reported 24,171 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, it's highest single day margin since the pandemic began. The state's daily infections are the fifth highest after Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
