The Cyclonic Storm "Tauktae" further intensified into an "Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm" on Monday morning, bringing Gusty winds and heavy to moderate rainfalls in Mumbai. The storm currently around 145 km northwest from Mumbai is likely to hit the coast of Gujarat between 8 pm to 11 pm.
Heavy downpour started around 4 am in the morning, as Mumbai recorded it's first rainfall of the season. Many places around Mumbai namely Pedder Road, Hindmata, Milan Subway saw water-logging.
Many areas also reported trees getting uprooted. Cases of power cuts in some areas of Vasai-Virar, Dombivali, Vile Parle, Borivali, Andheri, Mira-Bhayander, Thane, Ulhasnagar were also recorded. An exact details of damages is yet to be cleared.
Meanwhile the Worli area is said to have crossed 200mm of rains since 8 am. Many other areas of South Mumbai have received over 150mm of rains since morning.
Railway and Flight services have been suspended in Mumbai. The Bandra-Worli Sea Link has been closed.
