As the national captial continues to show a dip in COVID-19 cases and positivity rate, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has announced that the unlocking process will start from May 31. Construction activities and factories will be the first ones to be allowed to reopen.
Addressing the state through a conference Kejriwal said "At a meeting of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Friday, it was decided that the lockdown will be lifted gradually. In the process, we have to take care of the lowest strata first... daily wagers, labourers, migrant workers."
"This lockdown will last till Monday, 5 am. We will begin the unlocking process. Construction activities and factories will be reopened from Monday keeping the daily wage workers in mind" added Arvind Kejriwal.
However he has also warned people to not let their guard down. The capital recorded 1,100 new cases on Friday with the positivity rate being down to 1.5 per cent.
The lockdown in Delhi was imposed on April 19 and was extended multiple times during the process.
More detailed guidelines regarding the unlock process will be released soon.
