Breaking: 5-level unlock plan announced in Maharashtra to ease restrictions; 18 districts to face complete unlock

As the daily COVID-19 case is witnessing declining trend, a 5-level unlock plan was announced by the Maharashtra government on Thursday to ease the restrictions.

  • The states has decided to lift the lockdown restrictions in districts with less than 5 per cent Covid positivity rate and Oxygen bed occupancy less than 25 per cent.
The 18 districts in Maharashtra where all restrictions will be lifted are Aurangabad, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Dhule, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Jalgaon, Jalna, Latur, Nagpur, Nanded, Nashik, Yavatmal, Washim, Wardha, Parbhani and Thane.

  • As per the order, restaurants, shopping malls, shops, gyms, salons, beauty parlours and some other activities will be permitted to reopen in the above mentioned districts. Marriage functions and social entertainment would also be allowed in the particular areas.

Maharashtra on 2nd June recorded 15,169 new coronavirus cases, taking the tally to 57,76,184. As per the release by the health department, the COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 94.54 per cent, while the fatality rate was recorded at 1.67 per cent.

  • Mumbai recorded 923 new cases taking its tally to 7,07,041. With 31 more people succumbing due to the deadly contagious virus, the fatality count increased to 14,880.
