In a major breakthrough, the Union of European Football Association (UEFA) announced the scrapping of the "away goals rule" which has been intact since 1965. Starting from 2021-22 season, this rule will no longer be used to decide knockout ties in European competitions.
UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin explained that the rule now "runs counter to its original purpose".

Ties in which the two teams score the same number of goals over the two legs will now have two 15-minute periods of extra time, and, if required, penalty kicks.#UCL #UWCL #UEL #UYL
