As the Financial Captial of the country continues to show a dip in daily COVID-19 cases, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) have once again insisted that the Mumbai will continue to follow Level 3 restrictions.

According to the weekly report issued by the state government, the current average positivity rate in the city has fallen down to 3.79 per cent and the oxygen bed occupancy to 23.56 per cent, pushing it up to Level 1. Areas which fall under level 1 are allowed maximum relaxations.

However the Civic body have insisted for a further dip before allowing any more relaxations. The city has been recording between 700-800 cases daily. On Friday it reported 758 new cases and 19 deaths.

"The decision on unlocking Mumbai can be taken only after the COVID-19 positivity rate nears 1 per cent. As a precautionary measure, we are planning to go slow in reopening activities" said a BMC official.

"Next week we will have a review meeting on the COVID-19 situation and then a decision on change in level of restrictions will take place" said Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani.
