Mumbai Unlock: Mumbai to follow Level 3 unlock restrictions for two more weeks despite moving up to Level 2

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday announced that the city of Mumbai moved up to Level 2 but will continue to follow Level 3 unlock restrictions for two more weeks.

In the first of it's weekly updates of each district's positivity rate and oxygen bed occupancy (the two parameters on which the new system is graded), Mumbai showed signs of improvement.

"Mumbai has been showing a decline trend in new cases. But we don't plan on easing further restrictions for at least next two weeks" said Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani.

"We don't want to open up activities and shut them again due to a rise in cases. We have decided to observe the trend for the next two weeks before we take a call" added Kakani.

Mumbai added 696 new cases on Friday as it continued to showed a decline in cases. With 658 recoveries, the active caseload reduced to 15,819.
