Netherlands and Ukraine play out a five goal thriller to cap off Sunday

On an eventful day on Sunday, Netherlands and Ukraine played out a 5 goal thriller, North Macedonia were Defeated by Austria as England's dream of "It's Coming Home" kicked off again.

In the first fixture of the day, England edged out Croatia in the 2018 World Cup Semi Final rematch by a single goal at Wembley. They started the stronger of the two sides and almost took the lead in the 6th minute when Phil Foden's effort smashed the left post.

The only goal of the game in the 57th minute through Raheem Sterling. Kalvin Phillips's great run saw him go past two Croatian defenders before he slipped a pass through Sterling who lashed on the shot first time from the center of the box to beat Livakovic to give the Three Lions a perfect start to the Euros.

In the second game of the day, Austria proved to be too much for competition debutants North Macedonia. Having gone a goal down in the 18th minute through Stefan Lainer, North Macedonia were pulled back on terms just 10 minutes later as 37-year-old Captain Goran Pandev levelled it up.

Austria manager Franco Foda made two substitutions in the second half and introduced Michael Gregoritsch and Marko Arnautovic in the game and his plan worked.

Gregoritsch restored Austria's lead in 78th minute after he poked in an inch perfect cross from David Alaba before the game was put to bed in the 89th minute after he latched on to a poor clearance and took the ball across Dimitrievski and slotted the ball into an open net to make it 3-1.

The final game of the day turned out to be classic in the second half after a goalless first half. The Dutch started off strong with as many as seven shots in the opening 10 minutes.

The second half sparked to life after Dutch skipper Georginio Wijnaldum slammed in an effort in the 52nd minute before Wout Weghorst pounced on a half volley to make it 2-0 in the 58th minute. At that point it looked all over..

.. however Ukraine didn't go down without a fight. Two quick goals in space of four minutes from Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk in the 75th and 79th minute respectively made it 2-2.

The fifth and final goal game in the 85th minute as Denzel Dumfries headed in a cross from Nathan Ake to make it 3-2 and cap off a fantastic encounter. This also was the first match in Euros History to see 5 goals in a match after a 0-0 first half.
