Sunday Special: Celebrating 24 Years of Border

In this week's of Sunday Special we would like  present you the evergreen movie Border which marks it's 24th Anniversary today on 13th June. Written and Directed by J.P Dutta, Border was based on the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war which adapts the real life events of Battle of Longewala in 1971.

Having an enormous cast of stars including Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Jackie Shroff, Tabu, Rakhee, Pooja Bhatt to name a few, Border would receive positive critics for it's story, the showing of battle, direction, screenplay and would turn out to be highest grossing film of India in 1997.

Even today Border is remembered for it's highlights, anti-war message and it's evergreen songs. The song "Sandese Aata Hai" sung by Sonu Nigam and Roop Kumar Rathod still brings tears to the eyes.

                                Brief Synopsis-

The film opens with the declaration of the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war. Indian Air Force Wing Commander Anand "Andy" Bajwa(Jackie Shroff)  informed that he and his squadron will need to assist the Indian Army at the Jaisalmer Post where he is soon joined by his Brothers-In-Arms Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri (Sunny Deol).

The film then follows various plots of preparation of War introducing Lieutenant Dharamveer Bhan (Akshaye Khanna) and BSF Assistant Commandant Bhairon Singh (Sunil Shetty).

The film then follows the heroic stand of the 120 Indian Soldiers against a fully prepared Pakistani Army without Air Support as IAF were unable to fly at night.

By the time the Indian military had won the battle, the loss of several men leave the audience in tears as the message of their deaths reach the families.
