Sunday Special: 1961 Super Hit Film – Mera Saaya

On the occasion of legendary actor-director-producer-politician Sunil Dutt Sahab's 92nd Birth Anniversary (6th June 1929), we at the Su-Niti News pay our heartfelt tribute to him by presenting his film "Mera Saaya" in today's Sunday Special.

Directed by Raj Khosla and produced by Premji, Mera Saaya ('My Shadow') is a 1966 Indian Hindi thriller film that stars Sunil Dutt Sahab & Sadhana ji. The music is by Madan Mohan and lyrics by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan.

The film became a box office success. It is said to be a remake of the Marathi film Pathlaag (The Chase).

Brief Synopsis:

Rakesh Singh (Sunil Dutt), a wealthy lawyer, returns home after he learns about his wife Geeta's illness. Though she dies in his arms, a woman who resembles Geeta (Sadhana) is caught by the police.

The film won the Filmfare Best Sound Award for Manohar Amberkar. The songs "Jhumka Gira Re", "Naino Mein Badara Chhaye" and "Tu Jahan Jahan Chalega" became super-hits which are till date cherished by people of almost all age.
