Twitter "indefinitely" Suspended in Nigeria

On Friday, Nigeria announced that they are "indefinitely" suspending Twitter activities. This move came two days after the social media network deleted Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari's tweet.

In the deleted tweet,Buhari had made a reference to the country's 30 month Civil War in 1969-1970.
  • "Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigeria civil war. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in a language they understand" read the now deleted tweet which issued a warning to troublemakers in Nigeria from Buhari.
According to Africanews, a statement from the Ministry of Information and Culture said "The federal government has suspended, indefinitely, the activities of the microblogging and social networking service Twitter in Nigeria."

Information Minister of Nigeria, Lai Mohammed also accused Twitter of "having an agenda" against the country.
