Gujarat extends Night Curfew in 8 Cities; announces few relaxations

The Gujarat Government on Friday extended the Covid-19 Night Curfew (10 pm to 6 am) in eight cities of the state till August 1,2021. The cities are Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodra, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Junagadh Gandhinagar and Jamnagar. However the state government have also allowed some relaxations.

The state government announced that water parks and swimming pools will reopen at 50% capacity from July 20,2021 provided that the all staff members have been inoculated with atleast one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

An official also added that non AC private and public transport buses can operate at 100% capacity while AC buses can operate at 75% capacity from July 20. It is mandatory for drivers and conductors to take the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

As per an announcement made by State CM Vijay Rupani, hotels, resort-restaurants and water parks in the region have been exempted from fixed electricity charges for one year and will only have to pay for actual consumption.

Gujarat reported 39 new cases on Friday which took the caseload to 8,24,423. There was no change in the death toll (10,074) yesterday as no deaths were reported. The recovery rate of the state rose to 98.70 per cent with 606 active cases as of yet.
