India warns EU of not recognising of Vaccination Certificates if they don't clear Covishield and Covaxin

Amid the ongoing tussle between the Indian Government and European Union (EU) regarding the Indian vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin, India have now warned EU that they will not recognize EU's Digital Covid Certificate until they include the two vaccines in their certificate. Travellers then arriving to India will have to face mandatory quarantine as well.

The EU "Green Pass" is expected to come into effect from July 1. The EU have so far only approved four vaccines, Vaxzevria (Oxford-AstraZeneca), Comirnaty (Pfizer-BioNTech), Spikevax (Moderna) and Janssen-Johnson & Johnson.

According to reports, Covishield is same as Vaxzevria but failed to make the cut while Covaxin was not even considered as it yet to get a WHO approval.

Around 9 European Countries have added Covishield to their list of approved vaccines. Out of the 9, 7 are EU Member states namely Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Greece, Ireland, Estonia and Spain. The other two are non-member state which are Iceland and Switzerland.
