Modi Cabinet Reshuffle: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal and Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan submit their resignations

With the big Modi Cabinet Reshuffle expected to be announced later in the evening, the day started off to a flyer on Wednesday as many prominent number of Union Minister tendered their resignation.

In the major development, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' resigned from his post due to health issues. He was followed by Union Labourer Minister Santosh Gangwar.

Union Minister and former playback singer Babul Supriyo also submitted his resignation and said that he was happy as he went away without a spot of corruption on him.

Among other big names, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan also resigned from his post. Earlier today, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Thawarchand Gehlot was announced as the new Governor of Karnataka.

PM Narendra Modi is likely to a dozen more Ministers in the Cabinet, whose strength will then go up to 81 members. The current strength of Council of Ministers is 53.

This Cabinet Reshuffle will be the first Reshuffle since the Modi Government came back in power in April 2019. According to reports the oath taking ceremonies of the new Cabinet Ministers will take place at 7pm at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
