Renowned Nepali Theatre & Film Actor-Director Bisharad Basnet passes away

Nepali Film Industry's noted Actor-Writer-Director Bisharad Basnet took his last breath late on Friday night due to lung failure. He was in his early 40s.

  • He was in ICU for past 40 days after his COVID-19 report came negative. However his health deteriorated last night.

Bisharad is survived by his 1 year old daughter, wife, sister and mother. His parents and maternal grandmother had also tested Covid positive but his mother had recovered. His father and grand mom too passed away recently.

Dr. Bisharad Basnet was not just a Theatre actor but also Creative Director for Nepal Film And Television Academy. He is famous for his roles in Tandav, Dui Rupiyaa, Sushree Sampati. His Directional debut film Mr.Virgin was most controversial film of 2018 in Nepal. When the pandemic began, he had also started working on a new project - Lal Salaam.

Born in India, Basnet had his roots in Nepal due to his mother. He had over 20 years of professional theatre experience and was trained under finest teacher in India and abroad.

He had done expeditions with Clowns without Borders, Sweden to Nepal, he is founder of Acting School of India, Mumbai and had already trained more than 1000 actors, writers and directors in different part of India and Nepal. He was guest faculty to different film schools in India & Nepal.
