In a major operation on Sunday, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested two terrorists, linked to Al-Qaeda, from Kakori on the outskirts of Lucknow. The two arrested were said to have been hiding in a house in Kakori. The ATS had recieved a tip-off about their presence and were tracking them from the past week.
Lead by IG ATS, GK Goswami, the agency recovered two pressure-cooker bombs, a detonator and 6-7 kilograms of explosives. A bomb disposal squad was also summoned to the location and nearby houses were evacuated.
According to ATS sources, the two arrested had planned to target a BJP MP and some BJP senior leaders from Lucknow. The ATS have not disclosed the name of the two.
