On Monday, former Congress Leader Sushmita Dev, joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC), a day after she resigned from her post. This was announced by the party (TMC) on their social media handle, after Dev came down to Kolkata to meet party leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O'Brien.

The meeting took place at Abhishek Banerjee's office in south Kolkata. She later went to Nabanna, the state secretariat, to meet West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

"We warmly welcome the former president of All India Mahila Congress Sushmita Dev to Trinamool Congress family! Inspired by Mamata Banerjee, she joins us today in the presence of our national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee & parliament party leader, Rajya Sabha, Derek O'Brien" the party announced on Facebook, sharing the picture of the three.

The party also announced that she along with O'Brein will hold a press conference in Delhi on Tuesday.

Meanwhile Congress Leader Kapil Sabil was left disgruntled as he targeted the party's leadership.

"While young leaders leave we 'oldies' are blamed for our efforts to strengthen it. The party moves on with: Eyes Wide Shut" tweeted Sabil while taking a dig at Congress's leadership.
