On Thursday, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that a decision on re-opening of schools in Mumbai and surrounding areas will be taken after Diwali.
Diwali this year will be celebrated on 4th November.
- Earlier, a task force has presented some Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for re-opening of schools in the entire state of Maharashtra. The expert panel has recommended full vaccination for both teaching and non-teaching stuff.
Offline classes in Maharashtra have been shut since the pandemic began in March 2020. Schools in some rural areas were allowed to resume physical classes for students of Classes 8 to Classes 12, but only in areas were cases were minimal.
As per various reports, a recent survey has found that 87 per cent of Mumbai's population has developed antibodies against Coronavirus.
