Sunday Special: Solva Saal (1958) - a Tribute to Emperor of Style - Dev Anand

Today, as we all celebrate the Evergreen Legendary Actor-Director-Producer Dev Anand Sahab's 98th Birth Anniversary (26th September 1923), therefore this week's Sunday Special by us is a look-back to 1958's Solva Saal (English: Sixteenth Year).

Starring Dev Anand & Waheeda Rehman, the film was produced by Chandrakant C. Desai and directed by Raj Khosla. The film's music is by Sachin Dev Burman and the lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

Synopsis: When a naive woman's trust is broken by her lover who steals her family's heirloom, a crafty journalist comes to her rescue to retrieve the valuable possession.

Trivias: This film also contains one of the most popular songs "Hai Apna Dil To Awaara" picturized on Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman in the train, sung by Hemant Kumar, with mouth organ by Rahul Dev Burman.

Director Raj Khosla makes a cameo appearance in the movie, as a director in a film shooting sequence.

In a scene Waheeda Rehman tells Dev Anand that his name should have been Hemant Kumar instead of Prannath, as he sings so well.
