Farmers have right to protest, but roads can't be blocked indefinitely: Supreme Court

Speaking on the Farmers Protest, the Supreme Court on Thursday stated that the farmers have the right to protest but roads can't be blocked indefinitely.

The apex court has granted three weeks of time for  the farmer unions to file their response on a petition seeking removal of the protestors from the roads. The next hearing on this matter will now take on December 7.

The court was hearing a petition filed by a resident of Noida, urging for the removal of protestors from the roads due to the inconveniences faced by local people in the region.

"You may have a right to agitate in any manner but roads should not be blocked like this. People have right to go on roads but it cannot be blocked" the court said.

The farmers have been camping around the borders of Delhi for about nearly a year now as they demand for the removal of three farms laws passed by the centre.
