23 arrested in connection with UPTET 2021 paper leak, exam to be held again in month's time

 

The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2021 examination which was scheduled to be held on Sunday was cancelled due to an alleged paper leak. At least 23 people have been arrested in connection with the paper leak.

"23 people have been arrested from across the state. Few photocopies of the question papers were found from those arrested. The exam will be again conducted in a month's time. STF [Special Task Force] to probe the case and take action against those found guilty", said ADG Prashant Kumar.

According to reports, the paper went viral on several WhatsApp groups in Mathura, Ghaziabad and Bulandshahr just before the exam began.

  • More than 20 lakh candidates were set to appear for the exam. The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEP) has further informed the candidates that they will not have to pay any fees again for the exam and they will be notified about the exam in due course of time.

Reacting to the leak, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav said that Uttar Pradesh is at peak of educational corruption.

Meanwhile UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Twitter announced that candidates appearing for the examination will be given free travel facilities in Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTCHQ) buses.
