Amid speculations regarding the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022, Samajwadi Party (SP) Supremo, Akhilesh Yadav on Monday announced that he will not contest for the upcoming elections himself and informed that an alliance between his party and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has been finalised.
On being asked about his uncle, Shivpal Yadav's Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia (PSPL) along in the upcoming elections, he said that him and his men (Shivpal Yadav) will get "due honour" from his party.
"Our alliance with RLD is final. Seat-Sharing is to be finalised" he told PTI in an interview.
The SP has already announced an alliance with Om Prakash Rajbhar's Suheldev Bhartiya Janta Party (SBSP).
Yadav served as the CM of Uttar Pradesh from 2012-2017 and was succeeded by Yogi Adityanath after the BJP won majority in the 2017 Elections.
