In a major drug bust, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Monday seized a whopping 1,127 kilograms of marijuana in Maharashtra. As per reports, the contraband was brought into the the state from Hyderabad and was confiscated by the Mumbai NCB team at Nanded.
The contraband is priced as Rs 5.63 Crores. Two people have been intercepted and will be produced before the court.
"Mumbai NCB has seized 1,127 kgs consignment this morning in Nanded district. It was being brought from Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra. Two people intercepted, they will be produced before the court. Probe underway" Republic World quoted NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede.
The NCB officials recieved a tip-off of a heavy consignment being brought to Maharashtra, following which a trap was laid. The drugs were hidden inside gunny bags which were recovered from a truck.
Yesterday two people were arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police in a marijuana drug bust. The two accused were found to be using popular online shopping platform, Amazon for smuggling marijuana from Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) to Madhya Pradesh.
