United have lost 5 of their last 7 league games |
After a lot of speculations regarding his future, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was relieved off his duties as first team manager on Sunday.
This decision comes a day after United were thrashed 4-1 by Watford in a game which saw United finish with 10-men as captain Harry Maguire was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the 69th minute.
"Ole will always be a legend at Manchester United and it is with regret that we have reached this difficult decision. While the past few weeks have been disappointing, they should not obscure all the work he has done over the past three years to rebuild the foundations for long-term success" read the statement released by the club.
- Michael Carrick is said to take charge of the team for the forthcoming games, while the club look to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season.
Ole's future came under a lot of doubts and criticism after United were smashed 5-0 by Liverpool at Old Trafford. A few days later, United were handed a 2-0 defeat at home by the hands of city rivals Manchester City. However Saturday's defeat to Watford proved to be the final straw.
