On Monday, Manchester United announced that Ralf Rangnick has been appointed as the their interim manager until the end of the season.
Club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked less than 48 hours after their 4-1 humiliating defeat at the hands of Watford. The Red Devils then announced that they were looking for an interim manager till the end of the season before appointing a permanent manager.
Rangnick, 63, will oversee United till the end of the season before he takes up a two-year consultancy role with the club. Former United midfielder Michael Carrick took over the role of temporary boss following Solskjaer's departure and led United to a 2-0 midweek win over Villarreal in the Champions league followed by a 1-1 draw away to Premier league leader Chelsea on Sunday.
Rangnick, who is known for his high-pressing philosophy has made his influence in Bundesliga and fellow other managers.
"Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager until the end of the season, subject to work visa requirements. Following this period, Ralf and the club have agreed that he will continue in a consultancy role for a further two years" read an official statement from the club.
United are currently at 8th, five points outside of top four and 12 adrift of Chelsea,who are at at top of the table.
