Retired college principal threatened by woman with obscene WhatsApp video

As per reports from Indian Express, a 77-year-old retired college principal has lodged an FIR against a woman he met on social media alleging that she made multiple video calls to him, did obscene acts and later claimed that she had recorded him watching her and threatened to circulate the video to his friends and family on social media.

The complainant lodged the FIR on Saturday at the Khar Police station. He informed the police that he is active on Facebook and writes blogs.

Earlier this month, the complainant received a friend request from a woman. On her profile, the woman claimed to be working in a beauty parlour. The complainant rejected her friend request. The woman then asked him for his phone number but he declined again.

The woman then sent her number and again requested his number. The complainant thinking it might be urgent work, shared his number and within five minutes of sending his number, received a message from her asking him if she could video call him.

  • The complainant recieved a video call at night on his WhatsApp. The woman was partially nude, and seeing this the complainant immediately cutted the call.

She then asked him to send Rs 249 for her pre-paid mobile number bill. He sent the money and few days later received another video call from her in which she was partially nude again. The complainant immediately disconnected the call once again. She kept on making further calls.

The next day he received a WhatsApp message from her saying that she had made a video of him during the video call and threatened to defame him on social media by forwarding the video to his family and friends. The complainant then approached the police.

An FIR has been registered under Section 420 (Cheating), 507 (Criminal Intimidation) of the IPC and Section 67 (Publishing or transferring obscene material in electronic form) of the IT Act.
