On Saturday, while addressing the nation on the occasion of Christmas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed that vaccination for children between age group 15-18 will start from January 3, 2022.
Healthcare and frontline workers will also get a precaution dose of COVID-19 vaccine from January 10, 2022. Whereas, people above the age of 60 with comorbodities on the recommendation of their doctors will also be eligible for precautions doses from January 10, 2022.
Speaking on the spread of Omicron variant, PM Modi directed the people to stay alert instead of panicking.
Earlier today, Bharat Biotech's COVID-19 vaccine, Covaxin had received approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for emergency use for kids aged between 12-18 years.
