Two arrested in Mumbai for posing as NCB officers

 

On Sunday, two people were arrested in Mumbai by the police for posing themselves as Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officers and extorting money from people, including a Bhojpuri actor.

During the investigation, the police found that a 28-year-old Bhojpuri actor committed suicide in the Jogeshwari area after the two accused tried to get extort Rs 20 lakhs from her.

"The actor was present at the rave party when these two fake NCB officers demanded Rs 40 lakh from her and her friends. Later they realised Rs 20 lakhs from her. It is also came to light that Arif Ghazi, who attended the party with the actor, was behind it" the police said.

"After the incident, the Bhojpuri actor got scared and committed suicide through hanging on Thursday" added the police.

An FIR has been registered under Section 306 (suicide abetment), 170 (personating public servant), 420 (cheating), 384, 388 and 389 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
