Maha Govt slashes RT-PCR test price to Rs 1,975 from Rs 4,500 at Mumbai airport

In the midst of fear regarding the Omicron variant, the Maharashtra Government on Wednesday announced a reduction in price of RT-PCR test at Mumbai Airport.

  • At the beginning, the price of the test was Rs 4,500. It was then reduced to Rs 3,900. As per a new press release, it has now been slashed to Rs 1,975.

Before this move, the Mumbai Airport had the highest RT-PCR test rates. Passengers had been demanding a slash in the price for a long time.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 684 new COVID-19 cases along with 686 recoveries and 24 deaths on Tuesday. However 8 patients were found to have been infected with the Omicron variant on Tuesday, out of which 7 came from Mumbai and 1 from Vasai-Virar.

So far 28 patients infected with Omicron have been reported in the state. Out of these, 9 of them have discharged after a negative RT-PCR report.
