Maha Minister Nawab Malik sent to 14-day judicial custody

On Monday, NCP leader and Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik was sent to judicial custody for 14 days (till March 21) by a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in connection with Dawood Ibrahim money laundering case.

Malik was arrested on February 23 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and had been lodged in their custody on remand. Earlier the special PMLA court had extended his custody till March 7.

Earlier in February, the ED conducted raids at various properties including residence of Dawood's sister Haseena Parkar. The ED case is based on a fresh case filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) against the D-Company under stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

Meanwhile the Opposition have continued their protest and have demanded the resignation of Malik.
