TMC's Abhishek Banerjee and wife once again summoned by ED

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday once again summoned Trinamool Congress (TMC) National Secretary Abhishek Banerjee and his wife to appear before the agency in Delhi in connection with alleged coal scam.

According to ANI, Abhishek has been asked to appear before the investigators on March 21 while his wife has been asked to appear on March 22.

Abhishek and his wife had moved to the Delhi High Court against the summons issued by the agency in September last year. Their appeal was however dismissed by the court on March 11.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) started a probe in the coal smuggling case whereas the ED started thier own inquiry.

As per the case registered by CBI, it has been alleged that illegal mined coal, worth several thousand crores of rupees, has been sold in the black market over several years.
