Former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi questioned for six hours in sand mining case

On Wednesday, former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was questioned for six hours by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering investigation linked to alleged sand mining case in the state.

The ED recorded his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). He was seen leaving the office in Jalandhar late night on Wednesday.

His nephew Bhupinder Singh alias Honey was arrested by the agency in February 2022 just few days before the Punjab Assembly polls.

The ED have raided over 10 locations and have seized over Rs 10 crore, a gold watch worth above 21 lakh and a Rolex watch worth Rs 12 lakh from the residence of Honey and others alleged in this case.
